TANG SOO DO:

Tang Soo Do is a Korean martial art which Teaches Empty Hand and Foot fighting, Fighting forms, self-defense, and weapons. Tang Soo Do also teaches people to live a healthy and harmonious life.

Tang Soo Do teaches mental and physical training which involves the application of co-ordinate agility, dynamic mobility, power, whole body endurance, flexibility and special awareness to complex body movements.

These include stances, hyungs (forms), breathing exercises, self defense, hand and foot techniques, sparring and free fighting. Tang Soo Do is suitable for both sexes from the age of three upwards and provides a firm basis for personal advancement, fitness and health. Tang Soo Do adheres to the traditional path of self control by instilling self discipline and social responsibility in its members.

When you know a few basic self-defense techniques, you will be able to better prevent anyone from attacking, raping or robbing you or a member of your family. The human body has more than 300 vital points that are very sensitive, such as the eyes, solar plexus, groin, knee, and spine, etc. Our system of self-defense is designed to defend and attack these vital points. After learning a few basic self-defense techniques, you will begin to feel more confident about your ability to defend yourself. You do not have to be strong physically to apply our principles of self-defense.

Physical Fitness - Getting into shape is not just a luxury, but a necessity for maintaining good health. Our traditional martial art known as Tang Soo Do, gives you thousands of years of oriental wisdom and experience in ways of maintaining human health.

While you are learning our techniques for self-defense, you will also be increasing flexibility, strength and coordination. Our system includes cardiovascular aerobic exercise for the heart and lungs which will help you lose any excess weight. Don't worry about your age (we have started people in their sixties) or present physical condition, our instructors are experts in helping people of all ages to firm up and develop physically and mentally at a pace suited to each individual. No experience or background is needed; we will start you off slowly in our beginner's program and gradually get you in top shape safely.

Mental strength - Physical exercise is a proven method for the reduction of tension and stress. Our system emphasizes many different mental attributes as well as physical. Students are trained to incorporate mental concentration, self-discipline and respect for others, not only in their practice sessions, but in all aspects of their lives.

The children are always active in their sport as they progress, instead of just "warming the bench."

  6. Be faithful to your teacher: Learn the truth through practice of duty, loyalty, and affection.
  7. Be faithful to friends: Honor friendship and be peaceful and happy with harmony and faith towards all mankind.
  8. Face combat only in justice and with honor: Be able to distinguish between good and bad with fairness and rightfulness.
  9. Never retreat in battle: Sacrifice for justice with capability and bravery.
  10. Always finish what you start: Move to action with sureness and with hope.
